
Now, pushing into the latter half of the entire experience, things are at the point where it is all paying off.Įach of the five different stories presented in Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series Episode 4 – Sons of Winter feels important and like it is contributing to the end goal of the series. Game of Thrones hasn’t quite accomplished this though, as each story moves only a fraction of the usual amount each time we are able to check in. In most Telltale games we follow along a singular story thread, allowing for great progress to be made in each episode, resulting in them feeling like a whole experience unto themselves. Sons of Winter picks up right where things left off at the end of Episode 3, with all four character in pretty bad shape.Įach of these stories has been enjoyable so far, but some have suffered greatly due to the character switching mechanic. Players take control of four different friends or members of House Forrester as they try to maintain order, along with their stature, following the events of the War of the Five Kings. Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series tells the story of House Forrester, a relative unknown in the world of Westeros from the perspective of the HBO show, which the game is based on. Thankfully, with Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series Episode 4 – Sons of Winter they have quickly righted the ship, offering fast-paced story progression, while retaining the great feel of the series so far. Episodes 2 and 3 pushed things along at a snails pace though, giving the feeling that Telltale was spinning their wheels a bit. Episode 1 started off excellently, with a great new look into the world of Westeros and plenty of “oh crap” moments to keep players engaged. However, as the episodes continued on, it appeared that some cracks were showing in the otherwise impenetrable force that was Telltale. Having them team up with a property as hot as HBO’s Game of Thrones was a match made in heaven.


Ever since they released The Walking Dead, each of their titles has been highly praised, and adored by the gaming public. Telltale Games have been on one of the best runs in gaming history.
